Most schools have started a program with SEL, but fail to integrate it within the state standards with lesson plans. To connect academics, look at the state standards for your content area and find an anchor competency you could implement with a lesson plan. How do you see this benefiting your class? After reading p.55 about Rachel, have you ever used reciprical vulnerability. If so, how did it go? If not, how could you use it in the future to engage students towards the end of a lesson? Why is it more important to add SEL to a lesson than a homeroom type of lesson?
