Students can choose one to four global literature
masterpieces (as attached) to read, and write a short
primary document analysis or review essay for each
document for extra credit (5 points each, 20 in total):
• Each primary document analysis or review essay
should be about 200 words long, in one to two
paragraphs;

Each essay can include (1) introduction or quick
summary of the document, (2) historical
background of the document, including the
author, (3) major theme of the document, and
(4) significance or influence of the document in
history and today;
One direct and specific in-text source citation of
the primary document is required for each
essay.
Global Literature Selection: 1) Epic of Gilgamesh, 2)
Book of the Dead, 3) Classic of Poetry, and 4) Odyssey
