1. Draw or find a picture and print it out. Put your
picture toward the left-hand corner, as shown in
the example.
2. Draw a point to represent the point of dilation.
Place it at the bottom left-hand corner of your
paper, as shown in the example.
3. Plot at least 10 points along the edge of your pre-
image. Choose a scale factor, then use a pencil and
ruler to dilate those points. Show your lines.
4. Connect your new points to form the outline of
your image. Use a marker or colored pencil to trace
your enlarged image. Keep the line segments that
you used to dilate the pre-image.
5. Complete the drawing, including color and details
within the outline of your image.
6. Show or explain how you can verify the scale
factor. Justify your response using at least three
dilated points.
