Music History Project: Musical Eras
There are many eras of music. The important 5 eras of music we will research are
categorized as:
Medieval (1150-1400)
Renaissance (1400-1600)
Baroque (1600-1750)
Classical (1750-1820)
Romantic (1820-1900)
Directions:
For this project you will pick one of the musical time periods above and research it. You will
answer the questions and create a slideshow/slides presentation about your musical era. You
must include pictures and make it look nice!
Slides to include:
1. At least 2 notable composers/musicians of your chosen era
a. Where they are from
b. 3 Songs they composed each
c. When they were born and died
2. What characterizes the music from that specific era? (What about the music makes it
sound "medieval" or "Classical" etc.) Is it the instruments used? The way the music is
composed?
3. What do you think about this musical era and why? Would you go back and live in that
time?
4. What was happening in the world during that time period? (Wars?)
