The U.S. Open Tennis Championship is a tennis tournament that takes place in
Queens, New York. Every year tennis fans from around the world gather to watch a
set of matches played by famous male and female players. The U.S. Open is the
fourth tennis tournament of a series called the grand Slam that is played every year.
The players who win the tournament are awarded up to $46,300,000 and the money
is divided between them.
The U.S. open is unique because it's participants must play a tiebreaker at the end of
the set whereas other tournaments require players to play until they win by two
points. The U.S. Open is also unique because it has been played on many different
surfaces throughout the years, including grass, clay, Decoturf and acrylic hard
courts. This special tournament which began in 1881, continues to attract huge
crowds of excited fans every year to see the talented professional athletes compete.
New York city is proud to host the annual tournament and takes great pride in the
event.
