Write Your Pilot Script

TASK: Your final task of the semester is to write a pilot script for your proposed TV show
which must include all of the following:
Pilot script-Act 1 ONLY (opening scene - the hook - pre-opening credits) - see the
samples in week 12 in the online classroom for formatting help.
5-12 pages with a space between each speaker's lines (1 page per minute of
screen time)
A title page that includes the script title and your name
Courier New, 12-point font
• Use of sluglines (master scene and subheadings) to indicate setting
• Descriptions of action to indicate what is taking place as necessary
• Character names and dialogue, formatted appropriately
Dialogue that is effective, engaging, and realistic
• Well-developed characters, whose personalities and motivations are evident
in the dialogue.
