Suppose there is a small wooded area, about half an acre in size, which is owned by no one (at least no one who is concerned about it). Suppose also that nothing lives there but trees and plants—no insects or worms, no birds nest there, no deer and so on. If someone were to destroy this uninhabited wood, for no particular reason but just out of boredom, let’s say, would there be anything morally wrong with that? Assuming, again, that there are no animals to be harmed by this, and no one owns it so their property rights are not being violated, is there anything morally problematic about someone destroying it even if they do so for no specific reason? Explain your answer using some aspect(s) of moral theory/theories we’ve encountered this semester.

Then, anticipate how some other theory might answer this question differently—what do you think of that answer, and how does that affect your overall view of that moral theory?
