Getting a group of students to go together on the same tour is allowed and recommended. If you don’t have access to a local food manufacturing plant, do an internet search and find a virtual tour. Step 2: Take the Tour Attend or watch the tour of the local food manufacturing plant. Ask questions or search for answers about their protocols for food safety, such as temperature regulation, sanitation, training, and recordkeeping. Step 3: Evaluate the Manufacturer Write a one- to two-page report about what you learned on the tour. Include information about their food handling processes and the food safety protocols the manufacturer has in place. Give at least one suggestion for how the manufacturer could improve their food safety.
