Duha was the owner and operator of an expensive shoe store in downtown Calgary. Duha hired an assistant, Reza. Once Reza familiarized himself with the business, Duha sent him to scour the world for shoes. Duha told Reza that his spending limit was $150,000. He would need her advance permission to spend more on any order. Unfortunately, while Reza was shoe scouting in Prague, he made two very bad deals on boots:
CONTRACT ONE
Reza purchased boots from a young designer for $135,000, and Duha thinks they are the ugliest things she has ever seen. Duha is certain that the boots will never sell in Calgary; she desperately wants to return the shoes to the Prague designer for a full refund.
CONTRACT TWO
Reza bought a cargo container full of beautiful boots from an Italian leather company for the sum of $200,000. Duha loves the boots but thinks that Reza paid too much. She wants to renegotiate the contract herself.
If Reza buys his own plane tickets and pays his own hotel bills, does Duha have to reimburse him for these?
