When you subtract 22 from a number and the result is doubled, the answer is 6 more than the original number. What is the number?

Answer :

You have to write two equation:
'substract 22 from a number'
[tex]X-22=Y[/tex]
and:
'the result is doubled, the answer is 6 more than the original number'
[tex]2*Y=X+6[/tex]

then you change 'Y' in 2nd equation for left side of 1st equation:
[tex]2*(X-22)=X+6[/tex]
count it and you get:
[tex]2X-44=X+6[/tex]
This means that X=50
The original number is 50.
