Hassan made a simple thermometer by blowing a bulb on the end of a glass capillary tube and filling it with coloured water. Why could he not use it to measure the temperature of some hot sugar syrup at 110 degrees Celsius?

Answer :

Well one possible problem is that a glass capillary tube may be too small to measure a temperature that high. The absolutely certain reason, however, is that at 110 degrees Celsius, the syrup would boil and the thermometer wouldn't be able to register the temperature of the gas.
Hope this helps!
