The French and Indian War had a lasting impact on the American colonies for a number of reasons. But a major reason was the increased taxation that the British began to levy on the colonists in reparation for what the British believed was the protection of the colonists from the Native Americans. These increased taxes would later serve as the impetus for the American Revolution.
