An office supply store sells report covers at 3 for $0.96. If the rate remains the same, how much will 10 covers cost? Please show your work. Explain.

Answer :

We can use a proportion to figure this out. If we get 3 for 0.96 (3/0.96) how many can we get for 10 (10/x)? So far it should look like this 3/0.96= 10/x Now we cross multiply. 0.96 times 10 is 9.6 and 3 times x is 3x. To get rid of the 3 we divide by it to get x alone. So 9.6 divided by 3 equals 3.2. I hope that this helps you. Try writing out the proportion of you don't understand! :)
