It is "A": They watch and listen to the characters on the stage. It isn't "B" because there isn't always a narrator in a drama and even if there is, the narrator doesn't often tend to describe the charcter as this can bore the audience. It can't be "B" or "C" because the audience would need the script to do this and the audience doesn't ever really get provided with the script whilst watching the drama performance.
