A trapezoid has base measurements of 10 ft and 8 ft. What is the height of the trapezoid if the area is 95 ft2?

Use the formula of the area of a trapezoid.
A=(B+b)·h/2
B=10ft
b=8 ft
A=95 ft
(10+8)·h/2=95|·2
18h=95·2
18h=190
h=190:18
h=10,5 ft

If it helps, I would draw a diagram/picture first and label what you do know. The formula for the area of a trapezoid is A=(a+b)÷2xh a and b are the two bases, h is the height. So let's substitute that into the equation: 95 = [(8+10) ÷ 2] x height. Sorry for all the brackets, computers like this arent really meant for maths.... Now you want to rearrange the equation to make height the subject, like this.... Height = 95 ÷ [(8+10) ÷ 2]. It's easier if we work out the brackets first. 8 +10, quite simple, 18, divided by 2 = 9. Height = 95 ÷ 9 = 10.56 (rounded to two decimal places). To check, use the original formula for area with all the values substituted in: 95 = 9 x 10.56 which is.... 95. Unfortunately I can't change is to the units you need because I live in the UK and don't work in feet and the inches but hopefully you can change 10.5555556 feet into what you need (I think it's 10 foot 7 inches). Sorry for the long answer.
