During the Middle Ages, what were two popular types of vernacular literature? Briefly describe each type.

Answer :

Two types of popular vernacular literature in the middle ages was chivalry and courtly love, which were both themes expressed in poetry and songs. Since the stories were done through songs and sung by troubadours (chorals who would move from town to town), the songs were written down. Likewise to this, legends and religious stories were also written down in one's native languages or could be sung by the "troups." The Middle Ages marked the first period where vernacular literature started versus writing and reading in Latin.
