There are 5 red roses, 3 yellow roses, and 8 white roses in a tray. If Stephanie picked 2 roses one after the other without replacing, then what is the probability of picking a white rose first and a red rose next?

Answer :

so probility is (disired outcomes) divided by (total possible outcomes) so

1st one is white roses
8 white roses so 8 is disired
total=5+3+8=16
8/16=1/2
then without replacing them
red=5
total possible=16-1 since 1 picked
5/15=1/3
then multiply the probatilities

1/2 times 1/3=1/6
it is a 1 in 6 probability
