It's used in everyday life, yes I know you think that this saying is cheesy because all teachers say it, but honestly I've learned it's true. For example you can calculate how much time you have for each kind of activity before leaving to school/work. Or maybe when your baking you just have to measure cups and such. Not only that, but some careers are based off of mathematics completely. So a better career and a lot of use in life.
Basically, everywhere you go, you will be able to do math. Such as the how long each block is, or how long it takes you to get from one place to another.
