Salary Cap Analysis
Introduction: Now that we have our teams, I thought it would be interesting and worthwhile to
try to identify key lessons in how to build an NBA team. In other words, if you were an NBA
General Manager, what type of players would you pursue. The questions below can guide you
through this thought process
.
1. What players appear on a lot of teams? Are there players who appear more frequently on
the best teams in the
class? (You should look at other people's teams to answer this.)
2. If we take the players that appear on many teams as a group, are there things that they
have in common? Consider the
following:

When and where (what pick?) were they drafted?
Were they drafted by the team they currently play for?
How long have they been in the league?
3. Are you surprised by the absence of any players who do not appear on a lot of teams? In
other words, are there very good or famous players you
might have thought would be part
of this
exercise but aren't? Who are they?
