Answer :

It can be a decimal or fraction. An integer HAS to be a whole number.
-2, 10, and 4300 are integers
8.4, -0.14568, and 1/2 are not integers

Solution: If a number is not an integer then it can be a rational, irrational and real and number.

Explanation:

There are many types numbers. The set of numbers are defined below.

Real Numbers: All numbers in the number system( fractional, roots, positive, negative, decimal, etc) are real numbers. For example [tex]\sqrt{2}, \frac{3}{4} ,7.4, -2, 0[/tex] and 5 etc. Real numbers are categorized in two parts rational and irrational numbers.

1) Irrational numbers: The number which can't expressed in the form of [tex]\frac{p}{q}[/tex] are called irrational numbers. For example [tex]\sqrt{2} , \sqrt{3}[/tex] and [tex]-\sqrt{5}[/tex] etc.

2)  Rational numbers: The number which can be expressed in the form of [tex]\frac{p}{q}[/tex] are called irrational numbers. For example [tex]\frac{4}{7} , 3.4[/tex] and -5.2 etc. It is categorized in two parts fractional and integer numbers.

(i) Fractional numbers: The numbers which are not a complete number and the number in decimals, fraction are called fractional numbers. For example -3.6, [tex]\frac{7}{2}[/tex] and 6.1 etc.

(ii)Integer numbers: The complete number which has no decimal value is called integer numbers. For example-8,-2, 0, 5,7 and 100 etc.

If a number is not integer, it means it can be in fraction form and in the form of root.

Therefore,  If a number is not an integer then it can be a rational, irrational and real and number.
