An unexpected consequence of the Green Revolution is that the overuse of fertilizer lead to reduced crop yields over time. Obviously, when they devised fertilizers, the scientists' intention wasn't to reduce the number of yields that each crop had, however, unfortunately, that is what happened. So this could be considered a negative consequence of the Revolution, which had great and noble ideas in the beginning, but not so great results.
