attention. As your task, create an original poem that expresses your insights regarding such an issue. Use
your choice of the poets we have studied as an example of how the poem can be structured. Look at the
poet’s ideas for guidance on how you might share or express your thoughts about an important issue. You
will decide how to use poetic elements (use figurative language/imagery) to convey your theme and create
meaning. Your poem should reflect, respond to, or engage with ideas from two inquiry items that you have
explored over the course of the year. Before submitting your final poem, annotate it to show where your
poem engages with these inquiry texts--be sure to identify clearly both the idea and which inquiry text it
came from
