Answer :

x ---> Luke's age

x + 5 ---> Michael's age

x + x + 5 = 23

2x + 5 = 23

2x = 23 - 5

2x = 18   |:2

x = 2

x + 5 = 2 + 5 = 7

23 - 7 = 16

Answer: Luke is 16 years old.
